Living there and loving it...

Well, we've been in 1 week now. I love our home. It is so comfortable and beautiful. The pride of building ourselves is so great too. Everyone kept asking me all though construction, would you do this again and I always said no. My answer has changed. Yes, I would do it again, especially knowing what I know now.

I must be out of my brain because I'm already shopping for house plans to build on our old lot. It seems like I need some project even though I couldn't wait to be done and relax.

Au revoir!

Moving Weekend

Well, this weekend was moving weekend but the time sort of slipped away from us. We got a lot of stuff in the new place, including the frig and freezer and our pantry, but alas, not the bed nor the dog beds.

Here is a picture of the kitchen, after dinner and cleanup. We had our first sit down dinner tonight. Sitting at a table full of junk and miscellaneous building material leftovers, nothing fancy, just frozen pizza, but it was good.

The place feels like home now, rather than just a work site. I love it. Tomorrow we should be able to move the beds and stay the night.  read more »

Okayed for occupancy

We had our final inspection with the county yesterday. Just a couple of really small things so the reinspection is tomorrow. He did give us the ok to move in. I started moving more boxes last night. This weekend is the time to do it and hopefully the weather will cooperate for moving the furniture. We're setup to get phone/DSL service moved to the new place on Monday. Hopefully that is a seamless transition since we're pretty reliant on the internet.  read more »

Front Photo- Finished Product

Other than the gutters, this was the finished project of the front of the house. The gutter guy, Steve, actually showed up 5 days early, which was really cool. It has been raining every day since though so no new pic of the gutters.

Back again...

Ok, I have been a bad blogger, even without the excuse of the site being down.

Today marks a full year since we broke ground. The house is finished, but we are of course waiting on final inspections before we can move in. And with the weather turning, the land work is not done- landscaping, driveway, final grading. Some may have to wait for spring but we'll see how that goes.  read more »

Update

Well, a lot has been done lately but there is still much to finish. Floors are all complete. Doors have been bought. Concrete patio at the back was done by Hubby and some helpers since the professional that was supposed to come bailed out on us.

However, still awaiting the septic, put off by the contractor for a few more days. We have yet to buy our trim- hard to decide what to get. Still waiting for the replacement toilet tank to arrive- it supposedly shipped today. Waiting for another concrete guy to come do the front patio and the garage apron, and driveway eventually.  read more »

Guest bath vanity...

It's wild, and I love it!

Living room bookcase...

Wow, the cedar bookcase got started today. It looks great! So rustic and suits the room very well. I love it! Hubby put the same cedar on the back of the kitchen peninsula. Nice there too.

He got my fabulous new vanity hung. It's wild and I love it!

I repainted the odd gray/blue room partially today. It's going to take multiple coats but someday soon it will be a restful color I hope. It just is too busy as is.  read more »
