Grand Opening of Sound Transit Mukilteo Station - Free Train Ride to Seattle

On Saturday, May 31, Sound Transit will dedicate the new Mukilteo train station which will serve Whidbey Island and Mukilteo residents! The inaugural train will leave for King Street Station at 11:26 am and it will be FREE! Meaning, anyone can walk onto the ferry, walk over to the station, board the train and ride to Seattle free. The train is timed for those going to the Mariners game but anyone with a hankering to visit Pioneer Square, the waterfront, or anywhere else in downtown Seattle could ride. Heck, the train stops in Edmonds so even if you just have a hankering to stroll around downtown Edmonds, for 3-4 hours you could do so without having to drive.

How about the following itinerary for May 31: Take Washington State Ferries from Clinton to Mukilteo. Board Sound Transit to Edmonds/Seattle. Reverse and return. The total cost on May 31 to travel from Whidbey to Seattle would be the cost of the ferry - around $3 to $4 and that's only if you don't already have a monthly pass. Not bad eh?
